ORNITHOLOGY AND BIRDS WATCHING IN SIERRA DE GUARA

THE NATURAL RESERVE OF THE SIERRA AND THE CANYONS OF GUARA IS A UNIQUE PLACE FOR ORNITHOLOGY AND BIRDS WATCHING.

Thanks to its unique climat and geology, the Sierra of Guara offers many different ecosystems where are nesting and living almost 150 species of birds and raptors. Each year many birds-watchers come to Sierra de Guara and observe wildlife. For specialists, spring remains the best season because of the nesting and reproduction time.

During our ornithology tours, we will go around the amazing and perfectly preserved landscapes of Sierra de Guara. With our local and specialized guide, the visitor will see in which ecosystem and how are living some of the most impressive and rare species of birds and raptors.

The selected itineraries go around cliffs where nest the main rupicolous species of Sierra de Guara. You will discover various places with different ecosystems like pines or oaks forests, garrigues, gorges/canyons, river’s banks, open fields etc… Since thousands of years and with the influences of different climates (mediterranean, atlantic, continental, mountain) , many sorts of cliffs, hills, caves, gorges and canyons got into shapes. In these environments have evolved lots of  ”small” ecosystems that are singular housings and sometimes unique territory for animals and plants, and for some endemic species of the Sierra de Guara  and Pyrenees.
