#1 Unusual trekking in Sierra de Guara : Morrano loop near the Peonera canyon with Trensus – Castillo Naya – Peña Falconera – Huevo de Morrano

This magnificent 15km circular hike takes place in a little-used area of ​​the Sierra de Guara. Very close to the Peonera canyon, which is one of the most prestigious canyoning descents in the area, this course of intermediate-moderate difficulty with its 925m of elevation gain is ideal for a day that is not too hot. Indeed, both complete and varied, this unusual trekking allows you to discover numerous cultural curiosities and historical interests, as well as stunning panoramic views both on the Rodellar Valley and on the plains which extend the Sierra de Guara visible for really long distances on a clear day.

From the typical Aragonese village of Morrano, the ideal is to take the circular clockwise and follow the indications that allow you to reach chronologically:

  • the Trensus viewpoint and the old transumance shelters or sheepfolds,
  • the magnificent century-old oaks on the slopes of Naya Castle, remarkable trees among the last specimens trees in the Sierra de Guara,
  • the Castillo de Naya, an ancient strategic fortress with ruins of a 7th century village offering a grandiose landscape and a unique wild atmosphere to visitors,
  • The top of the limestone cliffs of the upper Peonera housing the griffon vultures of the hermitage area of ​​San Martin with its 360° panoramic views
  • The conglomerate cliffs of the Peña Falconera with its raptor perches, the curious “Huevo de Morano” in a disturbing Western atmosphere…

This classic route can also be extended or reduced depending on your strengths, curiosity or the motivation of the troops with “round trip” options from the main loop such as:
